This looks a brilliant idea - Skills Exchange (http://skillsexchange.net/skills/general/about.html) "The Skills Exchange Service is based on a very basic concept. Offering our own skills or services to others on a personal basis in exchange for the skills and/or services that they can offer us in return. A kind of skills / services swop shop or bartering service."

Another site is Time Banking UK (http://www.timebanking.org/) - "Time Banking UK is the national umbrella charity linking and supporting time banks across the country by providing inspiration, guidance and mutual help.Time banks link people locally to share their time and skills. Everyones time is equal: one hour of your time earns you one time credit to spend when you need." This is very similar to a scheme my mother ran in the 70's for babysitting amongst friends.
Another version but more for business is BarterCard (http://uk.bartercard.com/)
