Hubby and I enjoyed a really nice but hectic week in Canada recently, about a week after we got back i had a throat infection, no biggie there, i figured i had picked that up on the plane. but 2 weeks after our return i had the worst diarrhoea and nausea for a couple of days and since then bloating and flatulence on toxic proportions!! YIKES!

I muddled through the gastro bit and I am still feeling tired and bloated and very gassy despite eating raw/alkaline.

i found out that my symptoms match those of a Giardia infection, a parasitic infestation. NICE!

anyway apparently Giardia doesn't like oxygenated systems so i have ordered myself some food grade Hydrogen Peroxide (35%) which has no stabilisers in it. i read that the stabilisers are toxic!

Hopefully the Hydrogen Peroxide will arrive today so i can start taking it.

I will let you know how i get along :fear:

OMG Sharon that sounds horrible! I'd be very interested in your results with the peroxide, I've never used it before but I know ani is a big fan of it :D

Sounds good already, I'm just wondering if Aloe Vera might help with the digestive area (the plant itself is best) and maybe fennel in juices and peppermint teas??

If you don't mind I'm going to move you over to the Alternative therapies section and hoepfully somebody might come up with other ideas for you http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Thanks Jax, i wasnt too sure where to post anyways ;)

how do you prepare the aloe plant to eat?

It's dead easy, break a leaf off, trim off the prickly sides, then slide the knife down one of the flatter sides and then I just scrape the gel off the last flat side.

Oh and another thing I've taken in the past for digestive probs is something my chiropractor gave me, it's called Flora Plus (http://www.netmindbody.com/remedies_net_remedies.html#flora)look for #7 http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

great video Jax, Thanks ;)

do you think they had to' capture' it in a big net...?? LMAO :542:

the flora plus #7 looks really good stuff, natural too, i like that. our budget is a bit stretched right now though so will have to stick with the acidophilus i have in.

I know................it's blummin HUGE isn't it :eek::eek::eek:

Oooo another thing that may help is the water kefir (http://www.rawinuk.com/showthread.php?t=471), might be pricey too, however it lasts and lasts and lasts.........as long as you don't kill them off, so although a big outlay it works out very very cheap in the end ;)

is the water kefir different to the milk one?
i used to take the milk one but using soya milk and it was quite successful, tasty too ;)

Oh wow didn't know you could use soya milk instead, might try that one day.

The water one is obviously watery, and if you put dates and lemon in it it produces a really refreshing drink, I fermented my first batch for 6 days to get rid as much sugar as possible lol, but this next batch I'll try tomorrow which will be 4 days :7834:

Sharon
did you mean 35% HP?
i am sure you already know you only use 3%.
HP (3%) is amazing stuff for gardia
i used that and my zapper and colloidal silver.
not sure which one did it or if it was a combo.
by the time i was finished zapping it had gone.

edit
sorry actually no i didn't use HP for that
thinking about it.
i do use it for cleaning my teeth quite often though
and it is excellent for cotton buds in the ears
to ward of colds x

Thanks Ani :)

I do actually use a few drops of 35% in water as often as i can. i have been told to continue taking it for around 3 or 4 weeks to be sure of completely eradicating the giardia infection.
so far it seems to be doing the trick, the symptoms of fatigue and excessive wind and bloating have almost disappeared.

I have added acidophilus to the regimen too. really get things back into sync.

that is excellent news
fatigue and excessive wind and bloating - yuk know it well.

yes acidophilususussss as i call it because i am never sure how
is another gem in the digestion box.
i usually buy the solgar ones so you dont have to fridge them
although i hate the idea of magneseum stearate
but i bought some different ones the other day
when i got back from Ecuador with possibility of a few little blighters in the body.
those in the fridge ones are sooooo expensive
and i haven't noticed they are any different from solgars!!
time will tell :)

I used to love taking the solgar ones but as you say they are quite expensive. good quality though.
We bought some chewable ones from holland and barrett, probably not raw but i'd rather take them than have nasty critters on board eh?

;)

it's the magnesium stearate that puts me off taking them
but i still do because i don't have to fridge them.
i will check out the H&B chewables
when i have finished my Quest (i think) ones
they are the ones that cost the fortune
i think they were 24 GBP for 30 :help:.
but like you say critters have to be gone:pirate:
