From time to time i cant seem to control myself and eat copious amounts of what i term a 'standard western diet'.
to add insult to injury hubby and I just returned from spending a week in Ontario, Canada where we did more of the same. (the trip was great btw ;) )

now we have returned, my whole body is rebelling against this constant barrage of acidic foods.
My breathing is changed (a sure indicator of my general condition overall) and i get out of breath quite easily.
I also developed a nice throat infection on our return. My body really is showing me how unhappy and full of toxins it is.
The throat is yukky, and my blood sugars are well into diabetes numbers again. fasting bloods this morning 7.4 mmols!!! yep a good ol infection for sure!

I've made real efforts to eat more alkaline since i returned home, both raw and cooked. drinking lots of lemon and honey drinks to help my throat and raise my alkaline levels (the honey isnt actually alkaline but does help to temper the lemon flavour) the key here really is to consume as much alkaline as i can to support my body in its repair phase.

Sodium bicarbonate seems to help to soothe the soreness of the throat too, as well as adding to the alkalising effect.
I fell better in myself today although my throat is very sore to talk.

pH levels are back up to 6.25 today so i know my efforts are paying off. :victory:

WOW Sharon, now if that isn't proof that you're doing the right thing, then I don't know what is tbh! I can sympathise with you, travelling to unfamiliar places in the Western World is really difficult when you are not following the SAD/SUKD way of life.

The way I approach it is to research ahead as much as possible for all types of food outlets, even to the point of posting on forums for anybody's experiences in that area because that can produce some not so well known gems, and take some products that will travel okay with me............I love Juicemaster's juice bars for this purpose!!

Hi Jax, I usually plan ahead a bit better but Canada do not allow any food products to be brought into the country so i couldnt even take fruit onto the plane!
Any future visit will be better planned believe me! My lesson is learned here!

Just wish i could shake this tickly cough....
