LOL have just found this while looking for something else and thought it was so good it needed to be posted :D

Something Fishy
At the North West Vegan Festival in January 2008, volunteers from Manchester Animal Protection ran an experimental vegan 'fish' 'n' chip stall, alongside Nottingham-based Veggies Catering Campaign. This proved so popular that a mobile operation was launched using Veggies old catering trailer, kindly fitted out with a deep-fat fryer and bain marie by Paul and George. A preview at the Sumac Centre followed with the first batch of 'fish' 'n' chips going down a treat. All our proceeds go to groups like Coalition to Abolish the Fur Trade and Manchester Animal Protection or to animal sanctuaries to help fund neutering schemes, etc.

Catch (ah no pun intended!) them at;

Ha ha a lot of vegan food that I've seen just lately isn't healthy :( But it IS a lot healthier than the SAD/SUKD way of life!

I guess it is a whole lot healthier than the SUKD & SAD...but looking through the Vegan Society magazine it is full of adverts for vegan ready made foods - most are awful and not helpful to changing the way we eat - just another quick fix for busy people...most people find it difficult to change their mindset to just how easy and quick it is to eat an unadulterated diet of raw and cooked foods from scratch!

When we first went veggie around 5 years ago we replaced meat with cheat - quorn and tofu and ate alot of TVP (urgh)...it has taken until last April to cut out quorn and tofu - the TVP went much sooner after all the gas...:fear:
Now we never eat any meat-a-likes and if we feel the need for some fish we have fish and don't beat ourselves up for it.

Redwood foods are all about cheatin and flesh replacers - why???
Our long term health is not being helped by eating stuff processed to look and taste like flesh - more chemicals...
Rant over, thanks for letting me let it out...:victory:

LOL no worries Rawalchemist, I'm totally up for healthy debate (no pun intended but it was good!), the main prompt for posting it here and not the Raw section is really to help those that are still following a SAD/SUKD diet but have allergies or intolerances, as a vegan way of eating can help some people with these problems out, yet they may have not even considered it. I certainly didn't even consider the vegan concept when I was struggling with food intolerances and the exclusion diet years back http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon11.gif

Oh and don't forget, some people may be in transition from vegetarian to vegan, and again although these processed foods are laden with chemicals they can have a brief place for transitional purposes, and then who knows where that may lead after that...............potentially to a higher state of health on a raw vegan way of life ;)

I totally understand how transitioning from eating SUKD with meat is made easier with all the burgers and quorn etc... it made our own journey easier for many years (and quorn does taste good) It is great we get to share our journeys here and hope that others gain insight into what is available and the Good the Bad and the Ugly of transition foods:7854:.
We certainly didn't stop to really listen to our bodies until last year TBH...but mine began screaming at me to stop eating processed food of any description. Now, if I eat anything taboo I have an immediate reaction, from facial sweating to abdominal pain or joint inflamation or headaches.
It is interesting to experiment with foods this way :5161:
