Just read an article that says recent studies have found that sulforaphane (a chemical that initiates a set of cancer fighting enzymes) is 10-100 times higher in broccoli sprouts than in the mature florets.

Of course we all know about the benefits of sprouting, but I have to say I've never come across broccoli sprouts so far. Nickys-Nursery (http://www.nickys-nursery.co.uk/garden-shop/seeds/sprouting-seeds/) sell the seeds (alongwith some others) for sprouting though, 40g for £3.50.

I sprout them sometimes - they have quite a strong flavour by themselves but are nice mixed with alfalfa, which is good since my kids love alfalfa.

I've also sprouted them & found them too hot in flavour for my delicate palate :-0

Wow you wouldn't think they would produce a 'hot/strong' flavour............hmmm I'm thinking raw curries and chilli now http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

I felt cheated when I sprouted broccoli seeds as they are so teeny tiny lol, there was so much effort in such a small crop. i did like the flavour though.

Just have to say that this was also backed up in our sprouting class with Max Tuck yesterday ;)

By coincidence I have just juiced a large handful of broccoli sprouts with celery, cucumber, parsley, alfalfa, spinach and papaya for an evening juice. Yes, they are hot so you don't want many in a juice but it does make a change from eating copious amounts in salads.

Another reason to include broccoli in your diet is reported in Your Healthy Living July/August - it's seeds contain a powerful antioxidant called Glucoraphanin which recharges the body's own antioxidant enzymes thus neutralising free radicals, which can last up to 72 hrs which in turn is apparently longer than Vits C and E which last for only a few hours.
