I've been fighting the carb rich cooked foods for a few weeks, those carbs got me!!!
I'm back on the wagon now, more raw than ever before!
Ive learned that i cant afford to eat the same as the rest of the family, the Diabetes doesnt like it one bit!
instead ive added a bit more fruit to try and satisfy my sweet tooth, whcih seems to be working so far ;)
Ive been reading about low fat raw vegan (LFRV) on other raw forums/blogs, mostly the writers tell about how much more energy they have when eating low fat meals.
does anyone here eat LFRV ?? what made you choose to eat this way??
:tea:
Ooops not sure how I missed this post of yours Sharon! I haven't had any experience of low fat raw, mainly because I needed to UP my good fats at one point, but am interested (as ever!) in any info on it. Is it along the lines of the 80/10/10 diet at all??
Actually I'm going to move you over to the raw section as you may get a better response there http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
Hi sharon. I certainly feel better with more energy when eating low fat raw. After a while being high raw you seem to be lead away from high-fat raw ...nut based things etc. I choose to eat low-fat-raw mainly because my body has lead me to it....it has come about totally naturally through my time transitioning. My body just chooses, prefers and feels better when eating meals with less fat. I still have things like cake and nut/seed bars when burning up a lot of energy; but normal day to day foods are so high in juice and water than stodgy stuff actually becomes harder to eat and i get less and less used to it.
A low fat diet for this one is lots of juice, smoothies, blended soups and puddings. I get my good fats from blending in hemp, flax and chia into puddings, soups and salad dressings (base of courgette really works instead of using olive or other oils) and I actually feel much more nourished by it.
It seems as time goes by being raw you really do need less food. For me on a low fat diet with just the occasional high fat treat (piece of raw cake!) I seem to drink most of my calories and it suits this body well. I've even gained muscle weight this way. It is not the same for everyone though and we all have to find our own best path. But if you want to do one thing to lift your mood, I think low fat blended foods (with sprouts, greens and sunflower greens!!) are the best ever for all round gain!

This is an interesting topic...I am at present on day 12 of an Eighty Percent Raw test run by a lady called Tracy Partridge Johnson (on Facebook and her website of the same name) She is writing a book and we are participants to this process. I also took the Vegan Pledge 3 days ago so now have no animal products for another 30 days - I intend to re-introduce eggs after this.
I don't think I am low fat vegan, but since giving up animal products I am much lower that a week or so ago.
I do take virgin olive oil and eat avocados daily, keep nuts to a minimum and occasionally eat flax or hemp oil too. I love hemp seeds but seem to have left them out this last week which I would not normally do.
I wonder if it is just a case of me not remembering to eat things with higher fats or my body sending signals not to eat them?
I have noticed this past few days I feel a bit light headed, but not really hungry like I used to on a normal eating plan.
I too love to drink my meals in the day, but do add the odd flax kracker and avaocado if I need more.
Just ordered loads of seeds to sprout to add to the collection - so more experimenting to do!
Blessings

Funnily enough Karen and I got talking to an extremely pretty Norwegian lady at the show about this topic (I have to mention that her skin was amazing, really clear and glowing!).
With the climate that she experiences in Norway, which is much colder than ours, she advocated that she would not even consider cutting down the oil so drastically, I need Karen to come and add to this what this lady was saying.
Which leads me nicely onto the next person I met at the same show who has gone through what I'm going through with the head injury I sustained in a car accident. As we were talking she said I was slurring, which was at the same time that I was starting to really flag and feel a bit spaced out. She told me to get a tablespoon of hemp oil in asap...........and I can't believe how much I perked up within around 15 minutes! She also suggested getting a decent hemp protein powder to help with the injury too. I should say I already have about 15ml of Good Oil a day and the same of ground flax, so maybe that's not quite enough but at the moment finances are very tight :(
I'm getting fascinated by this debate though!
