Hello, I am Michelle. I was daily about 50- 80% raw and apart from the milk in my tea ( so addicted!) vegan, when I became pregnant. Towards the end of being pregnant and after birth _ have just eaten loads of stuff that isn't good. Now my daughter is 8 weeks old, I am determined to get to 100% raw as I am diabetic and on insulin for the last 2 years. I want to be free of meds, and full of energy for my 2 girls. I do not have family support for this goal so I value these support networks.

I have read extensively on nutrition and raw food choices to the point where I have read conflicting publications. From my experience (especially with diabetic medication) raw or vegan high raw (I need a warm soup in winter) is the best diet by far. I had got to the point with the 50-80% raw where I was taking just 4 units of novarapid instead of 20-30. I just need to get myself of the carbs I started eating in the last 2 months again.

My favourite recipes so far are Karen Knowler's Kale salad - delicious and a free recipe from the free downloads from her site. Kate Magics 'love loaf' and a green smoothie with too much chocolate powder than can surely be good for you, The worst has got to be the chocolli biscuits I made, (love the loaf Kate but chocolate, broccoli and apple cider - just the smell!).

Hi Michelle, welcome to the forum! :welcome: (we met on Facebook). There's so much to read about on here; I'm sure you'll find it helpful. Do come along to the pot lucks if you can. If you're in Swaythling you're very close. You'll find the link under Raw UK Events - England.

Hi Michelle

Here's a link to the Southampton Potluck (http://www.rawinuk.com/showthread.php?t=275) that is a stones throw away from you ;)

Have you spotted Sharon's diary about her journey with raw food and diabetes, if not here is the link (http://www.rawinuk.com/showthread.php?t=256). Maybe you could also write a diary about you are with raw and diabetes too to look back on and see how far you've come.
