Hi I'm Sandy and I'm really happy to find this resource. My aspriations are to eat a mainly raw and vegan diet, instinctively this seems the best course for me. but I wander if I'm trying to do too much too fast.

In November 2009 I gave up meat and dairy for 6 weeks and found that with a bit of planning it was largely pain free. I have since over the Xmas period eaten the odd bit of fish, chicken and cheese. I do feel that despite these glitches that I will eventually transition to full Vegan and mainly raw because the less meat and the more raw food I ate I found a new energy and a real improvement in my moods. I'm at that stage where I have a lot of raw days then a few days of not eating too well. I really would love to connect with the community here to gain insights and ideas and not feel that I'm all alone on this raw journey I don't know many vegetarians let alone raw vegans. Look forward to chatting to you all.
Love Sandy

Hi Sandy and welcome to Raw in UK :welcome:

I too find I have great raw days, like Ruth's amazing raw choc fest we went to the other day, and then when I'm going through an emotional upheaval, I find I can't be bothered and just grab whatever is around :rolleyes2:

I've not set any targets, but that can work for some, but I aim for around 75% raw per day, so breakfast and lunch is raw then cooked as the evening meal with rest of family. This seems to work quite well for our household, and more importantly for my wellbeing http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I don't get that much extra energy, but then there are other factors that could be conflicting with that, but I do feel a heck of a lot better in myself.

If I were you, I think I'd aim gradually for 50% the 75% and then if that's gone well go 100%........and that's for going vegan and/or raw. I also think that the weather at the moment isn't helping, we're experiencing temperatures and hassles that we don't normally experience round our way, so I don't think that's very conducive to going raw at the moment!! http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Hi Jax

Thanks for that. sounds like good advice. I've had a few raw days this week and will probably have some cooked stuff on the weekend when with family. This weather is difficult at times but I'm drinking lots of hot ginger and herbal teas which is helping. Hope you have a lovely weekend and keep warm.
