I have just finished reading this book and feel I've started back to front in a way, meaning that having read a few others first I wish I'd started with this one as a transitional reading from cooked to uncooked IYSWIM.

Leslie includes flesh and cooked food in this which makes me think it would be easier to follow her principles in this book as you transition and find your way to a higher level raw way. I really wish I had discovered this book back when she wrote it, it could've saved me a lot hassle with doctors that didn't believe something wasn't right in my body :(

It does include lots of juice recips that really help you detox AND food combine properly, the latter being one of things I have most problems with as I always seem to slip back to whatever I want to eat a the time and seem to convieniently forget food combining!

I like the way Leslie delivers this book to the reader with a no nonsense approach, I really can't stomach some of the books that flap on about a higher state of being, ecstatic beings, everything be magic and basically acting like a new age hippy fest - no offence to the writers of those but come on I have to deal with negativity and condemnation in virtually every aspect of my life, so if I started wafting in on a cloud covered in the rainbow and spouting about being ecstatic...................I'd lose any respect I've worked hard for and probably be sacked!!!!!

I think I'll give this book 10/10 for the raw food newbie and 8/10 for the more established raw foodist as I think it's a good book to refer back to and help with the food combining aspect.

I have read this book recently. I have to agree 10/10 I am new to Raw food and this is a great newbie guide.

I really like the juice recipes and the food combining information. I know this is one of those books I will always be dipping into:649:

I have to agree with this statement, whilst I can understand that eating close to nature may make you feel more in-tune with the earth and seasons etc, I don't want to be an estatic higher being blah blah blah. I truly feel that in the UK those self proclaimed gods and goddesses and magic people have stifled the acceptance of the Raw Food Lifestyle amongst the general public. There is a slowly growing understanding that the 'normal' foods we eat are not good for us, if Raw had been promoted sensibly I feel that more people would embrace it.

I have also just re-read this book, I think I dismissed it first time round as I wanted to jump in and be 100% straight away. Several years later and lots of failed 100% attempts I think this is an excellent introduction to ease you gently into more and more raw foods. Another excellent book is Natalia Rose - The Raw Food Detox Diet. With this book you take a simple test to determine which level you are at now, level 5 being typical SAD or or eqivalent and 1 being high raw. You then follow the transition level that is right for you. Essentially it goes from including cooked and flesh foods to high raw. Very simpley written and easy to understand.
