This is a bit of an emergency plea, after my emotional upheavel this week, the damned IBS has reared it's ugly head and absolutely killing me at the mo. I'd fought this wretched thing for a couple of years and have had relief from it for about 10 years, but now it's getting me with a vengence.

I feel sick a lot but am just about keeping food down, but stayed over a friends house last night, and went up to bed and nearly passed out up there...........it wasn't the vodka I'd consumed, I know darn well it was the IBS as I used to pass out with it before and it was the same pain etc.

I know I need to get this increased stress under control, now the knees are settling down more I can do a bit of light yoga. I seriously do not want to go back on all the antispasmodics etc as I'm already taking a concoction of pills, so does anybody know of any more natural methods etc to get this monster back under control?

Sorry Jax, not had any dealings with IBS so can't suggest anything but just to let you know I'm thinking of you at this difficult time for you. I'm sure you are totally right to avoid adding to the concoction of pills you are taking. Remember to find a few minutes each day just for yourself, to concentrate on RELAAAAAAXING.

Thanks CT, I have started working with Paul McKenna (his book, not the real man more's the pity!!) this week, he gets you to relax on his CD twice a day so that should be good for me in the relaxation area.

I've also been taking Bach Rescue Remedy, Milk Thistle and a Flora mix that aids digestion, all of which appears to have calmed my stomach down, I'm not feeling such a big knot in there now, it's still lurking but not giving me the pain I was getting - so fingers crossed that I might just have licked it into shape! http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I have a friend who swears by slippery elm powder for IBS. Not the slippery elm food as that's mostly wheat but Holland and Barrett sell slippery elm capsules and there are places on line you can buy the pure powder. She used to make a hot nut mylky drink wit the slippery elm and sip that. She swore it settled it quicker than anything. Fingers crossed something works for you.
