Does anyone know where I can get unhulled sunflower seeds? I've been reading Ann Wigmore's Sprouting book and would like to try growing sunflower greens. I'd also like to try 'buckwheat lettuce'. Is the normal raw buckwheat hulled or unhulled? Ann says it has to be unhulled for this and I gues you can tell I'm pretty clueless:noidea: Any advice appreciated.
Hi Kirsteen, I just wanted to say that I had my first taste of sunflower sprouts last week.......they were amazing! I'm not a huge fan of sprouts because I don't like the taste that much, so I tend to use them in things that hide them, but these sunflower ones I just coudn't stop eating http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon11.gif
As to buying the seeds in their shells, I have bought them in an independent health food shop once before (before rawness so ages ago!), but a quick google has reaped Wholistic Research (http://www.wholisticresearch.com/shop/home/m/Shop/id/338/page/1/) 500g for £3 P&P £2.50, UKjuicers (https://www.ukjuicers.com/organic-sunflower) 5x90g packs for £5.90 P&P £2.95
I'm no expert on seeds, but the buckwheat I have in the cupboard looks unhulled to me, I've Googled a pic so you can see for yourself, it came up as unhulled buckwheat (http://www.diabetic-diet-secrets.com/images/stories/rawunhulledbuckwheatgroats.jpg) and another pic here (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_K7AMalBX7mg/STIbQoL4O5I/AAAAAAAAAtE/UpFGyjh2Qn0/s320/buckwheatseeds.jpg)
I'm sure somebody with better knowledge than me will be along soon and might help a bit better ;)

Wow - thank you for this. I went to Wholistic Research and amazingly enough :-) managed to order not only the sunflower seeds but about half a dozen other things as well. (They literally just jumped in my basket and demanded to come live with me) I can't really justify the expense but I argue that treating myself to sprouting seeds and a couple of extra jars etc has to be better than buying the rubbishy (non-raw) cakes, biscuits and bars of chocolate that I used to do <VBG>

Thanks, I've got some soaking just now, so we'll see how they go. I've just had an email from Wholistic Research to say that the stuff I ordered yesterday is out on the van for delivery today. How's that for service!
