tim vanorden states that the act of chewing starts the digestion process, and this step is also very important when drinking our GREENS as well.

it makes sense to me, as this process aids the digestive tract to absorb more of the nutrients that are in the food/drink.

so ive started to chew my smoothies too. for me it has slowed down the eating process meaning that i feel fuller after my 'meal'.

Yes Sharon I do too, a bit probably not as much as I should :o I read it too somewhere but I don't think it was him.

Apparently most of the digestive enzymes are located in the mouth and gulping down food also contributes to swallowing more air that you don't want! But I think it's quite hard to associate chewing with liquids sometimes so I have to really consciously make myself do it.

This link (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=george&dbid=36) has quite a bit of info on it if anybody wants to know a bit more.

thanX for bringing this up Sharon
i believe it is really important
but after many years of trying
i nearly always remember to chew my food and drink
(on the last couple of mouthfuls) :(

i need someone to sit by me saying slow down
they say they have never seen anyone eat so quickly - afterward !!!!!

i remember hearing a story of the man
in the prisoner of war camp
who chewed his rice
i think he was the only one who came out healthy.

i haven't got time right this mo
but i will read that link later tonight thanX Jax
