LOL I don't know about anyone else.............but I really can't do without it! :o I first discovered raw chocolate (THANKFULLY) when I had to cut out sugar to kill off Candida, my nutritionist introduced me to cacao nibs and from there I searched the internet and found Conscious Chocolate (http://www.consciouschocolate.co.uk/chocolate.htm) (THANKFULLY)!

I bought a LOT of that chocolate but then as my palate changed I began to find it was a bit toooo sweet in the end although nice and smooth, but an excellent starter raw chocolate. From there I found Shazzies chocolate (http://www.detoxyourworld.com/acatalog/food_and_superfoods.html?gclid=CPSq4oLj8ZsCFUQA4wo d7Arw-A)which I found quite gritty, not particularly flavoursome and not as smooth as I would want, I suppose a bit like a Wispa bar (which I never liked so maybe that's why).

I tried the Acai Ombar (http://www.funkyraw.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22&products_id=278), but it was a bit gritty and melted a bit too quick which didn't help with it's thiness and the flavour didn't inspire me. Raw Intent's (http://rawintent.co.uk/index.php?cPath=19)chocolate sauce is divine and so was their Chocolate Pie and hearts that I tasted at the Bristol Vegan Fair last year!! But I found it a bit pricey for me as I knew I would be buying a lot :o

Not sure why I was so busy looking across the UK when I had a supplier of the best raw chocolate virtually on my doorstep! I found the effervescent creator of Raw Chocolate Heaven (http://www.rawinuk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=18) at a farmers market on the first day she started trading, and since that day her product range has become quite comprehensive. The chocolate is quite thick so you get quite a bit for your money, the different bars are full of flavour, it's smooth unless you go for one with nibs in of course ;) and all the packaging is compostable. And after a chat today I found out that she has had to let her website go.............just as I have started this one, so we've invited her to have her own forum/shop here.

I wouldn't normally do something like that, but I really believe in her products and I've tried all the flavours and can't praise them enough. If you are very new to raw or have a very sweet tooth I would suggest that you might like to wean yourself off of non raw chocolate with Conscious Chocolate, and then when/if you find that sweet, move on to Raw Chocolate Heaven - and have Very Happy Raw Days! :D

I have just tried Creative Nature's Cacao Kapow. I would say it's quite sweet with the Xylitol that's in it, but a much drier and slightly powdery chocolate, not unpleasant, just quite different to the ones I've tried so far. It sort of reminds me of the cheaper easter egg chocolate from when I was little (but that might not help you LOL!). It's a substantial bar of 50g for £2.99 in Waitrose in Canary Wharf, the ingredients are as follows;
Cacao Butter
Cacao Mass
Rice Powder
Xylitol (Birch Tree Sugar)
Algarobba
Ground Vanilla Pod

I've also recently tried Real Raw Chocolate from Total Raw Food, I tried the Real Gold (Carob Crunch) and Real Red (Goji Berries) flavours.................what a pig! :o I found them quite pleasant and smooth but I don't think they'll be a favourite although I did like the crunch in the Real Gold bar. Each bar is 60g and the ingredients are as follows;

Real Gold
Virgin Cacao Butter
Agave Nectar
Cacao Powder
Coconut Butter
Cacao Paste
Sesame Seeds
Lucuma
Dehydrated Buckwheat
Trace of sea salt

Real Red
Virgin Cacao Butter
Agave Nectar
Cacao Powder
Coconut Butter
Cacao Paste
Sesame Seeds
Goji Berries
Pink salt

OOOOOOO I think I have a 3rd favourite raw choc or potentially a joint 2nd! :708:

I've literally just recieved my parcel from Raw Living and have completely scoffed a bar of 'Be the Change' choc..................to be fair I did get some help from son#2!! The chocolate is a bit dry but not as dry as some of the others, it's a short chunky bar of 40g, and looks a bit like the Wispa bar when you bite into it, but has a different consistency to Shazzie's that looks similar. It melts into a substantial smooth taste in your mouth and there's a nice strong aftertaste too.

I also got 'Lucky Me' but haven't tasted it yet, it costs £2.95 a bar, but 'Be the Change' is on offer through August 09 for £2.45..............not sure why as they both have the same BB date on them.

Be the Change ingredients;
cacao butter
cacao powder
lucuma
mesquite
agave
crystal manna
etherium gold
pink salt

Lucky Me ingredients;
cacao butter
cacao powder
mesquite
agave
purple corn extract
ashwaganda
pink salt

would it be possible to have a marks out of ten or chart that people could fill in with tasting notes on the different chocolates,
I know I love (my own) but also pitch dark (forget who from) and I do love Shazzies as that was my first introduction to Raw chocolate but I can't stand conscious chocs as they are to sweet, I like Om bars but agree they melt to quick, I like Raw Living, I love all the ones on David Wolfes site (have tried & like all the different ones there) however costs are prohibitive being £5+ per bar + shipping to england!!
maybe a tick box chart with things like, texture-smooth-grainy-bitty
speed of melt, satisfaction of size & fill you up? value for money, range & dietary specific, nut or seed or honey? (allergy & vegan & 100% of raw)
complicated stuff but get Godders thinking on how it can be done and I am sure you will have a comprehensive easy to read/understand evaluation of raw chocolate!!!!!
:confused::confused::confused:

Goodness Direct (http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/affiliate/affiliatecode/script/home.html)are discounting the *Conscious Chocolate (http://www.goodnessdirect.co.uk/cgi-local/affiliate/affiliatecode/brand/CONC.html)Christmas flavours, "For the next week you can get these barsfor the special price of only £2.00 each" (Email dated 9th Dec 2011)

Christmas flavoured raw chocolate. What more could you want?

Conscious Chocolate's organic, raw ingredients are all sourced as unheated or sun-dried, retaining all the beneficial properties of the cacao bean. The ingredients are always prepared and blended entirely by hand at low temperatures (below 42˚C). They always aim for high ethical awareness and as low an impact as possible on the environment. The packaging is all entirely biodegradable and compostable.

Raw Cacao is classed as a superfood because it acts as a superfood - feeding the body with essentials fats, vitamins and minerals. Yes, that is right - chocolate is good for you if the cacao content is over 70%. In fact small amounts of raw cacao can be good for you eaten at any time of day, even breakfast!

The wild, sun-dried cherries are soaked overnight in agave nectar to give a syrupy, almost liquor type quality to the chocolate. It simply melts in your mouth.

WOW! I had a bar of The Raw Chocolate Company's Vanoffee raw choc today......oh my word, it has now become my top favourite raw choc bar (mainly because Karen has stopped producing hers and Booja Booja do not make bars!). It was divine, I thought it might be after having had their raw choc covered mulberry bits and raisins which were gorgeous........it lived up to expectation today for sure!!

Check it out here (http://www.therawchocolatecompany.com/allan_html_pages_new/organic_chocolates.htm#vanoffe1), the blue wrapper http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
