We've successfully used many of the different flours from Doves Farm. They are stocked in most supermarkets and available online too. The buckwheat flour is nice and I've enjoyed their free from biscuits too ;)

How good is their brown bread flour, can you make a good loaf of bread from it?

I've consulted my personal baker (Godders!) and he doesn't remember using the Doves flour for bread making. We used to use Laucke mixes from Lakeland for bread, then discovered Doves flour by which time I think I was omitting breads for the Candida diet due to the yeast in it :o But he's used Dove's for pizza bases, cakes and pies if I remember rightly.

I knew I should've wrote a diary as I was going through all these different stages!!

my hubby makes me loaves using the doves farm white bread flour. it turns out like a small loaf but with more of a sponge cake texture.

we giggle when he serves me my 'barbie toast'.

incidently it doesnt seem to toast very well at all. oh and its really yummy when sunflower seeds are added to the mix ;-)

Sharon, do you just follow the recipe on the packet? I'm going to get and try this this week. That's funny about the toasting thing cos it's the only way to make other breads taste good, by toasting it!

yes i believe hubby follows the recipe given on the packet. he bakes it in the oven rather than attempt it in the bread maker though.

gluten free friends do use their bread maker. i will make a point of asking what setting etc and their recipe next time i see them.

Right, bought the white bread mix because they didn't have the brown one.

Made it up using soya milk and instead of the eggs I used a baking powder, oil and water mixture. It is currently rising and then I will put it in the oven!

I'll be back to update!!

UPDATE! I cooked it at the temperature and length of time it said and it's quick dark brown! Not like the website picture!! I put a wet cloth on top of it cos it was quite hard. Let it cool and then cut a couple of slices, verdict- it's ok. Bit cakey. However I think if I make sandwiches with it the fillings will take over and they'll be fine.

Quite pleased!! Get to have sarnies for lunch at uni tomorrow!!

I take it back, it's far too cakey for me. Just made a sandwich out of it as a trial run before taking my lunch tomorrow. (I didn't want to take something I hadn't tried to get to lunchtime and I don't like it and I don't have money to get anything else!!!)

It is far too much like cake for me really. It's like a less sweet madeira cake! And the sandwich I just tried was really hard to swallow!!!

Oh well, back to the drawing board!!!
