I personally think Diabetes can be included under the 'intolerance' umbrella, especially as some have to omit certain foods from their daily nutrition. I have also felt for some time that a more raw way of life could help those with Type 2 diabetes, especially my Dad, brother and uncle...............however that feels like an uphill struggle with the male psyche  Anyway, if they're not going to listen to me (and it's too late to save my Grandad), then I'm going to work really hard to prevent me and my lads from developing it.

I'd just like to highlight a Raw in UK member who has managed to effectively control her Type 1 diabetes with more raw nutrition, it's a fantastic achievement for her and you can read a bit more about her here (http://www.rawinuk.com/showthread.php?p=619#post619), and feel free to ask her any questions ;)

Please do bear in mind if you are diabetic and are interested in doing the same, that you seek professional advice etc etc, thanks.

As I scour the internet for more information and research I'll be adding it here, but please feel free to do the same to help others out :)

nice thread Jax ;)

any type of diabetes will respond to a raw diet, whether you are type 1, type 2, type 1.5 or pre-diabetic, your success will depend largely on how raw you choose to go, but as Rome wasn't built in a day, then you can pace yourself to suit your lifestyle.

basically diabetes will respond because eating raw will reduce the spikes in your blood sugars, and in type 2 this will also reduce your insulin resistance, which in turn will help you to lose weight. did you know it was because of insulin resistance that you may be overweight??

as Jax mentioned i have controlled my type 1 diabetes by choosing a raw/alkaline diet, my diabetes has gone into remission, and i no longer require insulin injections.

please feel free to ask any questions at all, i am here to help ;)

Hi Everyone,

I am off to California at the end of this month for a 3 week stay at a Medical Centre. I have a friend who had great success there with type one diabetes. I would love to share my experience with everyone, in the hope that it may be of use to people with or who know someone with diabetes, whatever type - that must be most of us!

I set up a blog this week, where I will record everything. Please feel free to contact me via my blog:

Thanks, Claire x

Thanks Claire, hope you have an amazing time ;)

And a little reminder that World Diabetes Day is coming up on the 14th November - here's a list of the monuments around the UK that will be lit up in blue to help raise awareness etc. There will be many many others lighting up across the world as well.
