Stand further back from the screen and it will magically get smaller :)


Or:

Right Click on the Picture in Windows Explorer and click 'Edit'
The normal default is that it opens in Microsoft Paint.
Click the menu option "Image -> Stretch/Skew"
In the horizontal and vertical boxes put a number less than 100 - make sure it's the same number in each box, click OK.

That should shrink the picture to the number you put in the box, ie - if you put 50 in each box it would end up 50% the size of the original.

Repeat until the right size, then click File->Save As and save it as something else (so you keep the bigger original)

I'm trying to add an avatar photo but it's not working. If I try and upload an image I get the error "Invalid file", if I try to enter the url to an image I get the following error "Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file."

I tried jpg, gif and png images, 100 pixels square.

Hi Rob, that generaaly happens to me when I'm putting up an avvy that's too big http://www.rawinuk.com/images/icons/icon11.gif

There's a note at the bottom of the avatar window that says the following;

"Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller)."

So I'm thinking at 100 pixels square it might be too big and you may need to just resize it and try again......................ermmm but I'm no techie so don't quote me on that ;)

Thanks, but all the images I tried were around 4 to 5kb.
