I'm having some physio, acupuncture and taking some painkillers at the mo for whiplash, but recovery is really slow, so I am looking at alternative therapies to see if I can help things along a bit............and I wondered if Reiki might help.

Has anyone had experiences of it, good or bad??

I am actually trained to reiki two and find it very effective for balancing out the body, as well as targeting problem areas. it's a subtle therapy that can make big changes in your body and spiritual self.
you'll be very relaxed after it, if nothing else!

i have a background in what i call Natural Healing, (i work with my guides and light energy) it is a very powerful tool. it is very relaxing, it can help to reduce pain, i have found it opens up new pathways in your awareness the more you receive it too. its hard to explain but working with our natural energies puts us in touch with our higher Self.

be prepared for changes.

Cheers Sharon, that was what I was thinking and probably really could do with! You'll have to excuse me, but I'm just learning about energies and higher self, it's a whole new world to me :victory:

I had Reiki a while back, I remain open as to it's effective use...I think guided meditation is a slightly better way of aligning your inner self.
I understand the background but like with homeopathy I think the placebo effect is a contributor....contraversial topic!!!! LOL

You have to be careful with Reiki as it is one of those things that depends so much on the person 'doing' it. Whether they are coming from a completely un-egoic perspective, which to me seems like ordinary (and therefore divine) 'love,' compassion and forgiveness. In fact what we all do naturally when we are in communion and fellowship; as full and vital human beings. This is relaxing, healing, comforting, uplifting, joyful, uniting and totally 100% natural for us; although sometimes we have to be taught how to remember how to be natural with each other! Or there is the 'reiki' from people who would like to demonstrate and assert some kind of influence into the stream. This is rather more egoic, centering on what they can, 'do' for you, not themselves, and from my experience, can be harmful for very sensitive persons who are apt to take on other's energies, thoughts, memories, pyschic burdens etc

'Energy' flows in many many ways that the mind will never understand; and to think we can control and master it, teach it and use it to 'heal' another person (as if that person is separate from us!) is somehow not quite there in terms of spiritual awareness of what's really going on within and without you. If you need to heal someone with reiki energy I would ask what you need to heal within yourself first which you are seeing 'outside' in that other; for we can only ever treat ourselves. However ther are some very gifted people in the world who use what other's would term, 'reiki' but without drawing attention to themselves as doing anything at all! When you are a true healer it seems as if you do nothing and need not charge for what is perfectly natural and a human characturistic.

We are all here with exactly the right healing 'energies' for each other if only our eyes could see, ears could hear and heart could accept. You do not need to be taught how to do this; only reminded that it is yours.

Just read Ruth's reply and I wish to reinforce her wise words. It certainly does depend on those who are 'doing' reiki. I find it interesting that people train in 'reiki' and call themselves 'healers.' We are all healers - each and every one of us. It just needs to be unveiled and freed. Reiki can support this unveiling however so too can every aspect of life if viewed and held sacred. I wonder about people who attach the tag of healer to themselves after attending a few reiki trainings. We are all healers - we need to reconnect and begin to live that awareness - and that can be the most challenging form of healing.
